Villa Daria – Villa 5

This affordable, charming 5 bedroom villa is situated about 2 minutes’ walk from Seminyak’s famous Eat Street and about 10 minutes’ walk from the beach. Built in a traditional style, with an imposing high ceilinged, open plan living area and its own swimming pool, this is a great spot for families or a group of friends. To put it another way, Villa Daria offers all the delicious flavours of Bali without the frills.

Living

The property is entered through a private door which opens straight into an attractive tropical garden. Frangipani mingles with fringed palms and guests are led by stepping stones across the grass to the imposing wooden frontage of the villa. This large open plan living area includes a basic kitchen to the rear which is modestly furnished with the crockery, glassware and appliances you need for your stay. Granted, the trimmings are simple but the atmosphere is quirky and most importantly there is a good coffee maker!

In front of the kitchen is a large dining table that will comfortably seat 10 people and at the very front, with views over the mature garden, is a seating area with sofas and a large flat screen TV. This is not a highly styled villa but a homely place to have a fun holiday where you don’t have to worry about the kids ruining the plush cream décor or knocking over expensive looking vases.

The swimming pool is surrounded by a patio and sun loungers and is visible from the wide open terraces and balconies so parents can easily sip a glass of wine in the shade and keep an eye on their offspring gambolling in the sparkling waters. Within the luscious greenery of the garden is a traditional bale which is a great spot for a late afternoon massage or just to sit with a book in the shade.

Accommodation

Upstairs there are 3 large double bedrooms with air conditioning, all with ensuites comprising of imposing corner baths with showers. While the beds are draped in mosquito curtains the bedrooms themselves are simply furnished. All these rooms open onto a spacious shared balcony with seating and a wall mounted flat screen TV at one end. Downstairs there are a further two large bedrooms with ensuites and large corner baths. One of the best features of this villa is that every bedroom has a gorgeous view over the oasis of the garden.

Staff

This villa is staffed by a villa manager, a daily housekeeping service and the grounds are looked after by a gardener and pool maintained. This means guests are free to relax by the pool or explore the many activities offered by this gorgeous island.

Location

One of the best things about this charming property is that it is situated right beside Kilo Kitchen, Fat Buddha and Lacalaca on Jalan Drupadi, only moments from Eat Street and about 10 minutes’ walk from the beach. This may not be a designer villa but it is located in one of the most sought after areas in Bali with easy access to a myriad of other island delights. Guests will struggle to fit all the action into their schedules.

The accommodation may be budget but that leaves more in the coffers to spend on fun like learning to surf, hanging out at stylish beach clubs like Potato Head and Cocoon or having sunset cocktails at one of the eccentric beach bars. After all that indulgence, you might fancy an early morning yoga class at Yoga 108, a studio halfway towards the beach or a cultural day trip to another part of the island. The options for exploration and fun are simply endless
